I approach the world with curiosity to find new possibilities and create positive experiences

I am passionate about design because I aspire to help others. Care is an important word to me - in my eyes it is a key principle of great design. It is applicable in all facets of life and is at the core of my professional goals.

Outside of design, I love to learn and stay creative. I really enjoy cooking, breakdancing, slack-lining, meeting people, and staying stimulated with new activities.

Some stuff I've worked on

Editorial Work

OUTLINES is the Carleton University School of Industrial Design's student publication. As head of graphics I led our team in designing our first issue.

I was responsible for the magazine's long and short term branding, having designed a logo and wordmark, as well as selected dedicated typefaces, and the year's colour palette.

Incense Burner

This incense burner uses the design metaphor of a campfire as its inspiration. A campfire is not only inviting and mesmerizing, but it also symbolizes a sense of safety, community, and life. The concrete base reflects the stones around a fire and the laser-cut wooden top reflects a burning log. With this design metaphor, this burner brings warmth into the spaces it lives in.

Oasis
Car-Camping Canopy

A shade and light solution for car camping in groups. Oasis allows multiple cars to connect awnings, which provide shade during the day and light at night.

This project started with the question "how might we get car campers to connect?". And over eight months this design came to fruition. It creates spaces dedicated for groups to gather.

Illustrative Work

Communication is key in design. Whether it's in my personal illustrative work or in my commissioned work designing event posters, stickers, etc. my goal is to communicate a message and a feeling that offers a unique perspective.

Let's talk art & design.

Find Out More :)

Hey!

I'm glad you're stopping by to read this. I thought I'd include a more proper introduction.

I'm a dedicated, hardworking, and creative person who always tries to bring new ideas to the table. I'm driven towards my goals and I try my best to be balanced & considerate.

I have a unique perspective on life, being born in the US to a Costa Rican Father and a Filipino Mother, and having immigrated twice before the age of five. I consider myself lucky to have had a vibrant and cross-cultural upbringing. As a kid, doing competitive gymnastics taught me the value of hard work and to aim for excellence. And afterwards, learning to breakdance showed me the importance of finding joy in what you do. In school, my strengths were in art, athletics, and science, so I ended up doing an undergraduate degree in Industrial Design -a multidisciplinary blend of art and engineering. It's important to me to have a career with both creative expression and problem-solving. In terms of personality, I would describe myself as someone who is very easygoing in their demeanor and is very calm on the surface, but has strong passion, ambition, and drive underneath. I know I can't capture everything there is to know about me in one paragraph, but I hope this gives you a better idea of who I am.

These days I'm working on growing my art/design business (Onie Here) and honing my kitchen skills at Drip House.
